Wiki-Women-Middle East

Silk Road Gallery

On the occasion of Women’s History Month 2016, the Writing Middle Eastern Women into History Initiative (WMWH) launches Wiki-Women-Middle East, a series of Wiki Edit-a-thon gatherings taking place around the globe to add and expand profiles of Middle Eastern women cultural and social art practitioners on Wikipedia. While volunteer editors can join this ongoing collective effort remotely at their preferred time and place, on March 31, 2016 pilot programs take place simultaneously in four locations: CultureHub in New York City (5–8 PM), WMWH member spaces in Herat (8–10 AM), Tehran and Mashhad (10 AM–12 PM), and the core hub at The Arab American National Museum, Annex Building (8 AM–8 PM). Participants bring their own laptops and power cords. The program is free and open to the public. Each pilot session begins with a Wiki-editing training.
