Maquette

Maquette (2014, 70 min) is a film by Hamed Sahihi.
Set in an imaginary world reminiscent of classic science fiction cinema, Maquette follows two inventors who devote themselves to creating inventions as a way to pass endless time. This suspended time has lost its sense of conclusion and is instead marked by repetition.
Hamed Sahihi was born in Tehran in 1980. He received a BA in painting and later completed a graduate degree at the Iranian Young Filmmaker Society in 2003. His paintings, characterised by faceless and confined figures set within eerily idealised landscapes, form poetic metaphors for a dreamlike dystopian society. His work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Iran, and his animated films, sharing a similar surreal quality, have been screened at more than twenty venues across Asia and Europe over the past six years.
