Ghazaleh Hedayat’s “Bygones”

Majid Akhgar, Hadi Azari, and Zanyar Bolouri
Sazmanab

This panel discussion revolves around Ghazaleh Hedayat’s exhibition Bygones at ag Galerie, with Majid Akhgar, Hadi Azari, and Zanyar Bolouri.

Reflecting on her series Bygones, Hedayat describes skin as the layer through which one encounters the outside world, a boundary that remains ambiguous in its reach and limits. Drawing a parallel between skin and photographic paper, she considers both as surfaces that register and carry traces of the world, raising questions about perception, embodiment, and the capacity of images to contain experience.

Ghazaleh Hedayat was born in Tehran in 1979. She received an MFA in New Genre from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2005 and a BFA in Photography from Tehran Azad University in 2002. Working across photography, video, and object-based installations, her practice explores silence through the human senses. Her work has been presented in Iran and internationally, including exhibitions at Devi Art Foundation in India, Freies Museum in Berlin, Dar Al Funoon Gallery in Kuwait, Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco, Forum Schlossplatz in Switzerland, and Azad Art Gallery in Tehran. She lives and works in Tehran.
