International Contemporary Art Dialogue

Chinese Culture Center

Sohrab Kashani took part in International Contemporary Art Dialogue at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco, participating in a panel discussion that brought together perspectives from Chinese, Australian, and Iranian contemporary art scenes. The discussion centered on viewing and comparing works by Shanghai-based photographers with practices emerging from Iran and Australia, creating a translocal conversation across contexts. The event was held in conjunction with Rotating Shanghai II and enabled direct exchange with artists and the curator in Shanghai, as well as artists and art spaces in Sydney and Tehran, through an online video conference format. Moderated by Farhad Bahram, Abby Chen, and Taraneh Hemami, the panel featured contributions from curator Liu Congyun and artists from Shanghai, representatives from Articulate Project Space and independent curators from Sydney, and Kashani speaking from Tehran in his role as artist, curator, and director of Sazmanab, situating Sazmanab’s practice within a broader dialogue on contemporary image-making and artistic exchange across regions.
