Touristic City Soundmaps

Workshop on sound conducted by Katharina Stadler (artist-in-residence)
Every city has unique soundscapes. These emerge from both the specificity and diversity of an urban environment, as well as from how individuals perceive their daily surroundings.
During the workshop, the group discusses theoretical and practical approaches to the interlinkage of sound and space. Participants are invited to imagine Tehran’s most characteristic sounds and to propose a sound map that guides visitors through acoustic sight-hearing rather than conventional sight-seeing. The group then takes a walk through the sounds surrounding Sazmanab, exploring these ideas through direct listening.
