Terrain

Exhibition by Tanaz Modabber (artist-in-residence)
Terrain is a performative installation inspired by the uncanny correlation between the natural and the artificial environments of Tehran. As the boundary between these two conditions grows increasingly ambiguous, a third environment begins to take shape. This condition is crystallised into a continuously shifting mesh landscape, skewed in scale and formalised through the process of stitching.
While exploring the visual characteristics and construction systems of the installation, particular attention is given to the spatial and bodily experience that Modabber creates for viewers as they move through and around the work.
Tanaz Modabber is born in Tehran, Iran. She studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she completes a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and a Master’s degree in Architecture. She currently lives and works in Berlin, developing site-specific installations, intimate studio works, and architectural projects.
