Communicating Visually (Content and Context)

Feren Calderwood
Sazmanab

The talk explores the language of visual communication, perception, and the implications of its use within a global community.

From a time when only a few were able to produce and distribute visual images, technology now enables widespread image-making and opens up vast channels of distribution, bringing people closer across the world. Yet the language of visual communication has not become an inherent subject of learning in the way spoken and written language has. How can we be sure that an image communicates intent accurately? Is this a responsibility of the producer or creator? How does this relate to shifts in online and offline interaction within society and with commercial entities?

The speaker, Feren Calderwood, has an academic background in the History of Visual Media and Creative Technology.

The talk takes place in conjunction with a book launch curated and published by Sazmanab.
